11th Annual GKAS

Hogan Family Dental welcomed 18 children for the 11th annual Give Kids A Smile Event (GKAS) which was held on February 8th.  Local children received a complete range of services, including preventive care, fillings, and extractions.  All treatment provided by Hogan Family Dental during GKAS events is offered at no charge to the families. Young people (ages 1 – 18) in Eastern Montana are encouraged to participate in this annual event.

History of GKAS

The GKAS program was launched in 2003 by the American Dental Association and has served over 5.5 million children nationally.  Drs. Eric and Robin Hogan were introduced to the GKAS program while attending the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and have participated for 13 years.

Treatment Offered

The clinical team at Hogan Family Dental offers dental treatment to every child, including nutritional counseling and oral hygiene instruction for both children and parents.  Specific information is covered about hidden sugars in food, beverages, and some liquid medicines.  “Our hope is to have a chance at early intervention to make a long-term difference,” states Dr. Eric Hogan.

Epic Day!

Dr. Eric Hogan“We had an epic day!  We saw almost all smiles and only one frown from a one year old,” according to Dr. Robin Hogan.  Parents, and children alike, were grateful to receive quality care in Miles City.  “Offering needed treatment is so satisfying when dental disease is caught early,” states Dr. Robin.  Referrals to specialists are made when necessary.

Followup & Rewards

Plans were made for the continued care of each child.  All participants received a balloon and a “goodie bag” filled with a toothbrush, flossers, and toothpaste.
