History

Tradition is important to us at Hogan Family Dental.  Sometimes that tradition is one that is historical or family related.  In this case, our Cash for Candy event, is a recent Hogan Family Dental tradition which began when Drs. Eric and Robin Hogan purchased the practice from Dr. Eric’s father, Dr. Richard Hogan in 2006.

Cash for Candy is a yearly event (usually) held on the first business day after Halloween.  Each year, Drs. Eric and Robin invite people of our community to donate their excess Halloween candy to send to our troops overseas.  Hogan Family Dental partners with the Kinsey 4-H Club and Carolyn Dusatko.

The Invitation and Candy Swap

The Hogan Family Dental Team invites you to participate in our 8th Annual Cash for Candy Event.  Candy donations will be received on Monday, November 2nd from 3 – 6pm.  Bring us your abundant excess of Halloween candy and in exchange we will give you $1.00 per pound of candy and a free toothbrush.

This year, we have printed a few special golden ‘ticket’ flyers.  Anyone who brings in a golden ticket flyer in will receive a payback of $2.00 per pound.  Additionally, each girl and boy participant will be entered to win a grand prize of a Lego®City or Lego® Friends kit.

The Rationale

Drs. Eric and Robin Hogan want to encourage our community to participate in the fun of dressing up and “Trick or Treating”, while simultaneously encouraging moderation with sugar consumption and the kindness of sharing with others.  Global sugar consumption for children increases 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year.

Our goal is to increase public awareness regarding the importance of minimizing sugar consumption and to promote the benefits of healthy eating and excellent oral hygiene.  We invite you to join us to brighten the day of an American hero while teaching children powerful concepts regarding oral health.” —states Dr. Robin Hogan.

Participants are invited to hold back your “favorites” and bring the remainder of your Halloween loot to the Hogan Family Dental office.   Giving our excess to others helps us to remember the importance of sharing and being kind.  Sending parcels to our troops is a way to show our love and gratitude for their act of service and bravery for us and for our country.  These parcels are a welcome treats from home.
