Do you snore or is the quality of your sleep affected by someone snoring in your home?
For some, snoring is often a taboo subject and may be especially embarrassing when traveling or moving into a new living situation. Individuals who snore may experience daytime drowsiness, irritability, and difficulty concentrating due to inadequate rest and poor oxygenation during sleep. Both the individual who snores and those that sleep nearby are affected.
Snoring is caused by the vibration of loose tissues in the back of the throat (parapharyngeal tissues). Dr. Eric Hogan is now able to tighten these tissues with the Fotona Lightwalker Laser. This treatment, called Nightlase® therapy, is available in our Miles City office without the use of dental anesthetic, injections, or scalpels.
Nightlase® Therapy
Nightlase® is a non-invasive treatment that uses natural wavelengths of light to stimulate fibroblast cells to produce more collagen. Increased collagen results in plumper, firmer, tissues which reduces vibrations that cause snoring.
Dr. Eric applies two different types of laser energy over a series of three appointments in the initial therapy phase. Laser therapy stimulates the tissues to naturally remodel themselves, and improvement will continue over time. We recommend a yearly maintenance visit after the initial therapy to continue these benefits.
Establish a Baseline
If you are concerned about snoring, we recommend using the Snore Lab App or a similar recording type app on your phone to establish a baseline for the frequency and intensity of snoring. This baseline information is helpful to evaluate the success of treatment. Patients currently receiving Nightlase® therapy from Dr. Eric Hogan have already reported an improvement in the quality of their sleep following their first treatment.
If you are ready for a treatment option that does not require scalpels, surgery, or bulky machines while sleeping, we invite you to call us. See how we can help you improve the quality of your sleep (and those who sleep near you).
Dental Lasers
Dental lasers have revolutionized the way we treat dental disease and have dramatically changed the way we treat the surrounding oral tissues. We invite you to watch for our next article about dental lasers and anesthetic-free fillings.
