Comments from Staff on the Star of the North Dental Meeting April 2009: “Thank you for trip to Minnesota! I’m very excited to put into practice what I’ve learned!” -Rebecca Chappel “The Star of the North was a fantastic experience to learn new things and will allow us to bring our entire dental team together to serve the people in our communities on a whole new level. It was great to receive cutting edge information so that we may better treat our patients. I hope we have an opportunity to do it again someday!” -Jenn Piseno “I can’t tell you how much I loved going to the convention. I hope it helps me to deliver the best service to our patients.” -Nancy Wimmer, RDH What’s new at Hogan Family Dental? Nitrous Oxide Analgesia Drs. Eric and Robin Hogan are now offering Nitrous Oxide analgesia for all of our patients who are interested in utilizing this mild form of sedation. Nitrous Oxide is an inhalation gas that is used to help relax patients prior to and during dental treatment. The effects are completely reversible within five minutes of discontinuing the gas and patients may leave the office with no sedative effects. Many patients, especially children, find this a relaxing way to receive dental care. Nitrous oxide analgesia will assist those patients who may have been delaying receiving dental care due to dental anxiety. Dr. Robin comments that “Many children and adults are able to receive dental treatment without any sedative options. However, for the patient who is in need of alleviating anxiety whether it is from a negative past experience or oral aversion the use of nitrous oxide analgesia is a very reasonable adjunctive treatment.” Drs. Robin and Eric decided to add nitrous oxide analgesia as a means to assist patients when they began to refer pediatric patients to Billings to complete routine restorative care. We can prevent some families from having to drive to Billings for routine restorative dental care and address their dental needs right here in Miles City.” states Dr. Robin. The use of nitrous oxide analgesia adds just a few minutes to your dental visit and is available for all services. If you are interested in this service, please inform the dental receptionist at the time of making your dental appointment.
Research
shows that tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood
disease, affecting 50 percent of U.S. first graders. Nearly 1 in
4 children, aged 2 to 11 years old have untreated cavities in
their baby teeth, according to the CDC. Drs. Robin and Eric
Hogan want to see that the children in our community have a
chance to be free of dental pain and discomfort.
