When is
the best
time to
bring my
child in for
his/her
first
visit? This
question is
posed to us
many times
throughout
the week.
Dental care
for young
children is
imperative
as it sets
the tone for
them for
their oral
healthcare
throughout
their
lives.
Dental
visits at an
early age
are
considered a
“well baby
checkup” for
your child’s
teeth. The
American
Dental
Association
recommends
that a child
be seen no
later than
their first
birthday in
order to
property
teach
children and
parents how
to care for
baby’s teeth
as well as
to discuss
diet, check
for tooth
decay and
discuss
adverse
habits such
as
thumbsucking.
It is often
advantageous
for parents
to bring a
young child
in with an
older
sibling so
that your
youngest can
have an
opportunity
to observe
their older
sibling’s
experience
and model
his or her
behavior.
